Amsterdam, The Netherlands

There's more to Amsterdam than sex, drugs, and rock and roll! There are beautiful gabled buildings and beautiful bridges and canals lined with boats and bicycles.

In fact, Amsterdam is sometimes called the Venice of the North. It has a lot of canals.

And bikes. Lots and lots of bikes.

Sometimes both at once!

Many of the bridges are coated in locks inscribed with lovers' initials in the hope that their love, like the metal of the bridge and lock, will be everlasting.

In front of one of the many grand, beautiful museums, the famous "I AMsterdam" sign.

We, being Coloradoans, had to climb it. Of course.

Travel Mom (Carmen) and Travel Dad (Nick) in a classic pose. Keeping us from getting lost since 2014 #travelfamily

Hangin' with a statue recreation of Rambrandt's "The Nightwatch"

We went to the Anne Frank house, adventured through Cathedrals and up and down shopping streets, and sat on Gus and Hazel's bench.

Oh, and found a wooden bike. #Holland

What's the point of being grown-up if you can't be childish sometimes?

Amsterdam University's campus holds a special surprise--a book alley!

Beautiful city.

I would suggest going in Spring so your inevitable jaunts through the surrounding countryside will be full of tulips.
